ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Photography is the art of creating images by capturing the action of light.
My aesthetic goal is simple - to record interesting places and moments in time and make them as beautiful as possible.
In the last 30 years, my travels have led me toward creative experiences. My passion is to continually search for that elusive perfect shot... In photographing my world I both observe and participate in it. I shoot what I resonate with, which is why my images are so varied, ranging from portrait to landscape, from figurative to abstract.
In the early years I developed my photographic prints using silver processes in a traditional darkroom.
I embraced digital photography in the late 1990's. My iMac G5, equipped with Photoshop CS2, and my Epson 3800 printer, comprise my Digital Darkroom. I utilize only fine art archival paper (Cranes Museo Max) and archival ink so that each piece will last for many decades to come. My pieces are presented with 100% archival rag board matting and preserved under glass with museum quality hardwood frames.
I spend many, many hours getting each image "right" - from framing the shot to framing the piece.
